HARRISON FORD: A REAL HERO OFF-SCREEN!
Indiana Jones, Han Solo, Rick Deckard… there’s only one person in the world that has been all these characters: Harrison Ford. It’s the 78 birthday of the actor and he’s one of the most loved and respected Hollywood star. That’s because of all the great movies he has made… but not only for this reason. Did you know that Ford is a real hero?
HARRISON FORD, A CARPENTER WITH AN ACTOR SOUL
Harrison Ford studied English Literature in the University, and in that moment he realised that he loved performance. He never finished the career because he started to act and did some little characters. But the problem was he couldn’t cover his family (her wife, that he met in the university, and his baby), so he started to work like a carpenter.
Thanks of his contacts and accidentally, he met George Lucas, who contracted him like a carpenter to help in the construction of some movie’s studies. Lucas, in that moment, was working in the Star Wars project, and he was with the auditions of Han Solo. The director proposed Harrison Ford to read some lines of the script… the rest is history!
INDIANA JONES AND THE BROKEN BONES
Everybody knows that, after Star Wars, the fame of the actor increased at the level of being hired by Steven Spielberg. Indiana Jones was his next movie and in the filming he was very involved. In fact, he did lot of action scenes by himself with all the consequences… breaking some of their bones. For example, the typical scene with the maharajá at first was thought to be a epic fight. But Ford was injured, so he proposed change it to a simple shooting. Spielberg loved the idea and the public more!
A curious fact is, after the movie, Harrison Ford started to love archeology so he started to support professional archeologists.
A HERO INSIDE AND OFF- SCREEN
Harrison Ford is considered a hero not only because of his fiction characters, but in real situations where he literally has saved lifes! The thing is he has a personal airplane and sometimes he has helped the authorities to used it in mountain first aid. He has participated in the rescues… imagine being rescued by Harrison Ford!
The actor helps in other questions too, for example the environment and planet. So much so that he has got a spider species with his name!
