T.E.O. SCHOOL DYNAMICS: HOW TO LEARN TO SPEAK IN PUBLIC?
One of the students’ questions is how to learn to speak in public. Usually, due to their insecurities and lack of practice, this is one of their most common shortcomings. This means that the pupils go to university without adequate preparation, since in most schools and institutes they do not work on verbal and non-verbal language in front of an audience – how important it is for everyday life!
COMMUNICATION SKILLS & PUBLIC SPEAKING: PUBLIC SPEAKING
We have, apart from the usual subjects, our own subjects that form and help the student to face his future. For example, in Communication Skills and Public Speaking we help students to develop their public speaking, to lose stage fright and to be able to organise their speech. The last dynamic has been that the students have had to look for functionality in common objects that the tutor has indicated to them and sell them. Objects such as a pineapple, a spray… thus, they have made use of their creativity and ingenuity to give them a saleable use, even making advertisements about them.
We believe that this type of initiative is essential to prepare them for their future work, even though, as we have said, they will have to get used to presenting themselves in front of an audience from the university. Besides, it has been a very fun way and the kids have really enjoyed it.
